Hi Elise, I really enjoyed your article and the way you compared the motor and cognitive/emotional factors of stuttering to golf. It brought back memories when I attempted to learn to play golf as a college student and the struggles I went through learning a new sport from a motoric standpoint, as well as a cognitive/emotional perspective. As a kid, I was not athletically inclined, teased about my clumsiness and picked last on team sports. Your article raised my awareness of the power of mind over matter and the importance of systematic desensitization when there is a history of fear, anxiety. I'm wondering..in your work with PWS, have you used comparisons to other sports, such as baseball, football or even learning how to play a musical instrument? Thank you for your insightful article.
