HI Ashley, I thought I responded, but I guess I did not. I think PWS who are old enough or aware enough to indicate that they view themselves experiencing self doubt, fear, not being "good enough,", etc. are appropriate for the cognitive aspects of the analogy. For me, it has usually been adolescents or adults. However, a similar analogy might be helpful to a younger child when compared to how a kid might feel while playing soccer, basketball, tennis, etc. The motor comparison and how it is explained is also age dependent. The key is to have the client understand that tempo, muscle tension, rate, etc. will impact their stuttering behaviors. I hope this helps. elise
