I loved reading this article because in my Fluency Disorders class we just learned about Van Riper's Stuttering Modification Theory. Having just learned about the Desensitization process in MIDVAS, we have talked a lot about hierarchies and I believe this is a very important step in treating the client to stutter more "easily." This also must be a very hard step for a PWS. My questions for you are, does this process help clients in reducing the risk of relapsing in their stuttering? Also, does this treatment work for most clients, has it ever failed? And, in knowing that all PWS are different and there are many steps in the desensitization process, how long does it usually take to complete? Thank you so much for your time! -Kayleigh Ash (undergraduate student)
