Good point, Joe. I am not comfortable calling stuttering exclusively a speech or language disorder, because I don't think we know enough about the underlying processes of language or speech, or of the language-speech interaction. So, I will call it a communication disorder. Pardon the cop-out :) I don't think this distinction needs to be made in a definition.
