Hi Joe: Thanks for the nice comments. (I apologize for jumping in late.) As someone who has taught Speech Science for over 30 years, I have come to realize that it is very hard to parse out the speech from the language. The former is a bit more tangible than the latter, but the underlying processes for both contain a certain degree of mystery. I have no doubt that something gone awry in the language plan can wreak havoc on the motor plan. (We should probably point out that what you quoted was probably the part of our definition that we struggled with the most.)
