Hi Judy - first, terrific clinical nugget!! I've had my graduate students pseudostutter to help give them get an idea of what it's like to be a PWS, but I really liked your idea of having students learn a new skill. I'm thinking now...giving students not just a flavor for what it's like to learn a new motor skill, but getting them to better appreciate the affective and cognitive components. I think pseudostuttering may be a start, but have you given your students other assignements? For instance, my wife, who's also an SLP, remembers how she was given an assignment in her bachelor's program to wear hearing aids for a few days to better appreciate what it's like for someone who's hearing impaired and needs to wear them.
