Skye- I did see it as a self-fulfilling prophecy, and another opportunity for failure for many years. When you don't feel you are in control of your fluency, It rules your life; at least it did mine. As I have grown, I have matured. As I have progressed and returned back into therapy I now know and solidly believe that I have the skills, and the controls that it takes to speak and speak well. I had my self- fulfilling prophecy of failure back in the early 90s when I was starting my career as a teacher out of college. I wasn't proactive, I was reactive. I didn't do anything about the issue except let it consume me. So in that sense it was a self- fulfilling prophecy of failure. I failed repeatedly in my mind, and continued down a slippery slope and could see no bottom. I am a long way from that now. Thanks for your note.
