Thank you for sharing your story. I enjoyed reading it and found myself thinking you should have been an SLP yourself (prior to reading about your aspiration of becoming an SLP). I am currently pursuing my dream to become an SLP and for my fluency class we just recently read an article comparing speech language pathologists who do stutter to those who do not. I personally believe a therapist who does stutter would have a better connection with a client who stutters. The therapist could relate to and share past experiences with their client as well, something I’ll never be able to do because I don't truly know what the client is going through or feeling. I feel like based off of your fantastic experience with the therapist at the Local university in North Carolina you would agree! Thanks again for sharing your story.
