I've known people to report that one term was easier to say than the other; more like a feared word (than anything phonetic). I think that's the point that they were making. The words have emotion and there can be a stronger negative attachment to one term more than the other. But I think (more positively!) if you can keep using the words and lessen that emotion, then it takes the sting out of them.
