You discussed in your article how the Gurus use snappy and enticing advertising to promote their 100% guarantee cures and how those miracle cures feed on the element of the PWS’s sense of hope. It made me ponder that are we, as clinicians or student clinicians, creating enough personal magnetism with our clients so that they are not tempted to succumb to the tricks and schemes of false cures. According to Shapiro, personal magnetism includes clinician qualities that are attractive and arouse hope in a client. As a student clinician, I want to practice developing personal magnetism with my clients who stutter so they are hopeful in the strategies we practice in therapy and not in scam or sham online cures. Your article really helped me become more aware to practicing personal magnetism with my clients and all the false information on the web for people who stutter as well.
