Hi Molli. There are a lot of factors that can worsen stuttering. I think one of the objectives of speech therapy is to find what are the more important factors for each client. I can think of motor factors (excessive muscle tension), linguistic factors (articulatory rate, pauses, specific phones, textual planning), emotional factors (anxiety, depression), and so on. Sleep can be one of these factors. Sleep has a great impact on speech fluency for some PWS, but not for all. So, I would not say that sleep is certainly one of the main reasons that worsen stuttering. For some people it may be, but not for all. Sandra
