Hi Samantha. I did not study sleep physiology in my undergraduation course either. Sleep deprivation affects brain functioning as a whole and, accordingly, can interfere with speech and language acquisiton and rehabilitation. So I think the study of sleep physiology would be usefull not just for speech therapists that work with stuttering, but for all of us. I think knowledge about sleep physiology, sleep deprivation, and sleep hygiene measures would be important for speech therapists and could be added to our current practices. Sandra
