Hi Maggie. Thank you! 1) Sleeps affects stuttering in several ways. Let’s see 3 examples. Clients who are very busy will report they do not sleep the necessary hours per night; in their case, it is more related with reduced quantity of hours. Clients who have small chidren will report they have to wake up two or three times per night; in their case, it has to do with several interruptions throughout the night. And there are also clients who have breathing problems; so they will wake up several times per night or, if they do not, the quality of their sleep is not good. 2) Sleep disorders are more harmful to children than to adults. And I think the same is true about the impact of sleep on stuttering. I have seen several children whose stuttering disappeared after their sleep was adjusted but I have never seen this happen with adults. Sandra
