Interesting analogy, Pam! I'm sure all PWS do the dress up thing when they're speaking in situations where they need to impress, but it's even more so with people who are covert. So that must mean that we are all dressed in our most comfortable and ratty clothes when we're at our stuttering conferences! I also use a clothing analogy: being covert is like walking in high heels - you put on your hot shoes and strut down the street, thinking that you're looking great (or are keeping your stuttering under control) ... until you trip over your shoes and fall flat on your face (or encounter a bad block). (BTW, I was the youngest and also got picked on by my older sisters, so I can't relate to being the perpetrator!)
