Margo...What a fabulous question. I actually have not read any research on the impact of bullying on parents. I will ask the other authors to respond, as well...just in case anyone has more info. On a clinical impressions note, I will tell you that it has been my experience that the parents I work with have one overriding emotion when it comes to bullying: "fear" Fear is the emotion that drives frustration and anger and sadness and anxiety. The parents experience many of these as they struggle to help their child through difficult times. Some parents even admit that they "go back" to the times when they were bullied and it is like "reliving it!" I appreciate your insightful question and good luck in your future in working with those who stutter!
