Good morning Shannon, In many ways you have asked the most important and difficult question so far. Without the support of the class room teacher, changing everyone’s behavior to bullying is not going to be easy. The school must have and enforce an anti-bullying or no tolerance bully program. This means the whole school from the janitor, bus driver up and including the principal must know how to immediately react to bullying behavior in regards to the bully, the bullied, and the bystander. Parents, working together, many times are the catalyst in getting schools interested in developing anti bulling programs in their children’s school. We know of SLP’s who have played a crucial part in doing this too. If you’re interested in learning more about this critical step for have a zero tolerance for bullying you might begin by Goggling the topic. If you want to go directly to the master on establishing anti bullying programs in the schools read Dan Olweus, Olweus’ Core Program against Bullying Behavior: A Teacher Handbook. Thanks again Shannon for the great question, Bill
