I'd like to thank you guys for posting your paper on dealing with bullying. I too am not a stanger to being teased,I've been teased by some of my cousins during childhood not because of stuttering, but because I was different. I had some emotional problems growing up and I was chubby as a kid, so I began to absorb what they said to me all these years and it shaped how I viewed life. Studying to become an SLP and wanting to make a difference for a child who is different, especially ones who stutter is the driving force as to why I wanted to become an SLP in the first place. I also was lucky enough to sit in a classroom where there was a child who stuttered who attended the conference & was working with the SLP in his school to inform the kids in his 5th grade classroom, the truth and reality about Persons who stutter. It was a priveliege sitting at that classroom that day and seeing all the kids respond to him on why people stutter, what are the mechanisms of speech, and he also showed the myths & facts about people who stuttered. The boy had alot of fun and the kids saw him as a hero that day. It was a great time and breakthrough for everyone in that room and it was amazing to be apart of that day!
