Hi Ashley - Thanks for your question. It's an important one. In fact, we think that the child should not only be in the room when a presentation is being given...we think he should be the one giving the presentation! As I mentioned in another post on this thread, Bill Murphy has been instrumental in bringing the notion of the classroom presentation into the mainstream of stuttering treatment. He has written and presented about this many, many times, and he and Nina Reeves have a brochure about it that is available for download through the National Stuttering Association at www.WeStutter.org. We address the topic in great detail in our book about minimizing bullying for children who stutter, as well. So, yes to presentations, yes to having the child there, and and yes to empowering the child to be the one to give the presentation. it can truly be a life-changing experience.
