Thank you for not only sharing your personal story about stuttering but also providing information about a very intriguing topic. I am a first year graduate student who is currently working with an adult who stutters. When I read the part of your article about the approach-avoidance conflict, I immediately thought of my client. In talking with him, it has become evident that the lack of confidence in himself definitely affects his speech and his motivation to engage in social situations. Do you have any advice on how I could help him overcome his fears and avoidances? What did you find to be most helpful?
