Wow, another Elise. I started my response and had to double check I wasn’t responding to the previous person :) For me, our identities, the roles we assume, whatever term we want to use, all of that has to play a strong part in the process of change. If a client isn’t comfortable in their new role/identity after leaving therapy (and this applies to any kind of therapy, not just speech therapy), then it just makes sense that they’ll likely revert to what’s comfortable, even if they’d probably rather not. A Lehman alum, huh? That’s awesome! I’m enjoying it there: glad to hear you did, too :)
