Hi Pam, I was reading through the comments before I posted mine and got to yours. Thank you for your honesty and vulnerability to share your perspective and your story. I do not stutter myself and reading your thoughts has been helpful for me as a speech pathology student studying fluency and stuttering. My mother always told me growing up that my goal for things should be "progress, not perfection." And you mentioned something very similar in relation to your stuttering and how you handle it on a daily basis. It makes sense that using techniques to be more fluent would require extra energy when it more "natural" or "normal" feeling to be disfluent. Doing or getting used to anything new can be tiring. Thank you for giving me some new things to think about and mull over. I would love to continue dialoguing with you.
