This paper brings up some great points that as a new graduate student in speech-language pathology, I have never considered. I am beginning to understand the importance of helping people who stutter accept their disfluency in order to be successful in therapy; however, I did not think about the importance of helping them identify with their new fluent life. Change can be difficult for people in any aspect of their lives. I never considered that living a newly fluent lifestyle could be a change that is extremely challenging not because of the skills but because of the new view of one’s self. Thank you for writing this insightful article!
