Will – What an incredibly kind thing to say. I’m thrilled that the piece spoke to you. Each person I met taught me a great deal and deeply impacted my thinking, but this particular interview was one of the most unexpected and edifying. The hours I spent with him were heart-breaking, humbling, cathartic and deeply uplifting. I have never forgotten his courage in speaking to me so honestly. Your comment about my video is so interesting, and you’re right, many people would not have noticed that. Eye-contact is something I need and something I want, but sometimes it is a relief not to see every reaction, to allow myself the brief respite. I would love to hear more of your thoughts on what you think people missed in The King’s Speech.
