There are reports of successful use of Lidcombe in school-aged children - go to PubMed, and you can find them. Most accounts of HOW it works are offered by outside researchers, myself included: manipulation of linguistic demand during home sessions, acknowledgement of the child's problem and joint work (lots of parent programs do very well), self-efficacy, there are lots of potential reasons. Rosemarie Hayhow has written on this, as have I. If you are interested, I can send you a chapter - write to nratner@umd.edu
