It makes absolute sense Lynne. I really liked the phrase "Kill them with kindness" :). Yes, i think its essential to respond rather than react to the rudeness imparted by somebody to you. Thinking before reacting , Perseverance and Patience is the key which would eventually help me to desensitize myself from such people who intend to attack my stammer. You've very rightly said that instead of trying to change somebody else, we should focus on changing our own self. Building such kind of a shield would do wonders.
