I am a graduate student in Communication Disorders and this is such a great tool for working with clients who stutter! Much of what I have learned about treatment for individuals who stutter involves the client's feelings and attitudes about stuttering. I feel that your approach addresses this aspect of fluency and communication in a way that the client can be open and honest. Reflective writing is a great tool to address feelings and attitudes because sometimes it's easier to write about tough topics than it is to talk about them, and I'm sure this is especially true for individuals who stutter. This is something that I will definitely use as a clinician working with clients who stutter. Is there a way that you could incorporate a similar activity into therapy for a younger child who is aware of his or her stuttering? Or for younger clients is it best to simply talk about the issue?
