Hi Connie McFarling, Thanks for the questions about the time line of my EMDR therapy. My journey back through time has not been a linear one. Looking at the four events listed in my essay: Talking to my Grandpa at age seven was targeted only four months into my EMDR therapy. The kindergarten class, kissing the girl event was at one year. Five years in to my EMDR exploration I was targeting a fear of suffocation memory that felt very powerful! That was the beginning of my exploration of preverbal fears. At eleven years of work, my first grade, “Say your last name,” class memory just showed up. When I started EMDR therapy sessions, they were once a month for about two years. Then the sessions were about two or three months apart for the next two years. One more year passed before my last EMDR session where I felt I needed help to start exploring a powerful fear of suffocation memory. With the last formal session, I started looking into my preverbal fears. I am now continuing this exploration on my own. To find an EMDR Clinician, a good place to start is the EMDR Institute website: http://www.emdr.com/
