Hi Ellen-Marie, I always enjoy your papers year after year. You write from a very insightful, holistic place, and capture your points in a non-clinical easy-to-understand way. I can very much relate to the reasons why one should go to therapy, and the reasons one should not. I found therapy in 2006 and participated for 3 years. The first year was like Nirvana, because I had found other people who stutter. The second year was insightful, as I was learning I was contributing to the growth of the SLP students who provided the therapy. The third year was difficult, as I was no longer interested in learning about targets and how to speak mechanically. I left therapy (long story - I was actually asked to leave) and have been alright since then. I still stutter, and I am OK with it. I wrote a paper about some of the things I learned from my therapy experiences, which was presented at the 2009 ISAD conference. http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/isad12/papers/mertz122.html What advice would you offer to someone who was thinking of going to therapy, because they think that's what they should do? ~Pam
