Hello, Janet. Good to hear from you again. /// Yes, I do believe that taking another's point-of-view into account in clinical interactions, as well as in life in general, makes for greater understanding and can lead to increasing peace and harmony, which, clinically, can translate into greater satisfaction for all involved. And I also think, as you seem to think, that doing so whenever disagreements occur between client and clinician during the course of treatment, which they inevitably do, is a skillful way of resolving impasses, especially if the process of better understanding one another is through attentive, non-judgmental listening and candid, detailed expressions of what is desired and what is needed. This can not be rushed or forced. Everything in therapy depends on being and feeling understood and accepted, or not. /// My best to you Janet. Take care. Ellen-Marie
