Thank you for your article. I am also a graduate student studying to be a SLP. I read through the comments and I don't think my question has been asked specifically. If it was, I apologize and will gladly go read through a previous comment again if I missed it for the answer. In a situation in which the family is pushing therapy and the child does not want to attend, where do you draw the line between the child's and family's wishes (or draw a line at all)? If the child is expressing to you that they have no goals for therapy and do not want to be there, how do you recommend handling this with the family? I am guessing in some families the child's refusal to do what the parents ask may be seen as a type of rebellion or disobedience perhaps. Would you counsel the family regarding the child's attitude toward therapy and other options that might be better/more profitable at the present time for the child? Thank you, Rebekah
