I truly believe that kids who are Jason's age, other adolescents and adults who are growing up in a culture where "the in-crowd" listens to hip-hop and logs onto facebook daily, can overcome their fears of stuttering or seek therapy, if more celebrities and popular media would advocate this behavior as being "cool." Rappers like Lil Wayne and even Justin Bieber already have tremendous influences on what soda kids should drink, the kinds of skinny jeans to wear, and ways to deal with bullying. With that said, these artists and other media groups should find ways to highlight encouraging insights on getting help for stuttering to change the mindset of not only those who bully or tease, but those who covertly stutter. Everyone can make a difference. Thank you for this insightful article. Julius Hamilton III Southern University and A&M College singjulius2007@yahoo.com
