Hi Ellen-Marie, Thank you for yet another thought-provoking paper. As a result of unsuccessful approaches (at various times in my life), I had resigned myself to the fact that I would never be able to deal with my stuttering issues. Over the years, there had been occasions when I attained increased fluency in controlled environments - yet it was always cruelly snatched away when I returned into the outside world. I experienced so much heartache and disappointment that I promised myself that I would never again place myself in such a situation. If someone drew a specific approach or therapy to my attention, I made it abundantly clear that I was NOT interested. In effect, I buried my head in the sand.(smiley) To cut a long story short – my wife craftily devised a plan that resulted in me attending a gathering at which a PWS spoke about how he had successfully embraced public speaking. For the first time in my life I allowed myself to entertain the thought (and hope) that I could do something similar. That fortuitous encounter ignited my flame and sowed the seeds of an empowering belief that was to subsequently change the course of my life. I shall be forever grateful to my wife for using her feminine wiles in such a manner. The rest is history - as they say. (smiley) Thank you, once again. Kindest regards Alan
