Dear Ben, Thanks for your post. Obviously, you have not found your past therapy helpful. As an SLP, my knee-jerk reaction is to tell you that something must be changed, either the therapy strategies or your expectations, your attitudes, etc. I won't do that, however. Should you want to do what my short paper suggests, maybe it would be helpful for you to write a long post to lay out as best you can your stuttering therapy story. I know that is a daunting task, and a face to face interview might be more appealing. But if you do so, I'll do my best to take the time reply in some detail about MY OPINION (just that, not THE TRUTH) of what might explain your lack of success in the past. I won't make any promises at all at this point, but I might be able to suggest some avenues of treatment that you could pursue, maybe involving additional therapy, maybe involving some other self-therapy techniques, or maybe involving some non-traditional approaches. What I can say at this point is that a self-help group, if well run, might well be a good first step as you continue your search. Regardless of whether or not you follow my suggestion, I wish you well and hope you'll find the relief you seek. Kind regards, Ken
