Very good! As a student enrolled in a fluency class I was hoping that this topic would come up- and that it would be addressed in the way you addressed it! SLP's are not therapists, psychologists or counselors- so dealing with the deep emotions that either contribute to or are caused by stuttering might sometimes be out of our range of expertise... so thank you for your article. How would you recommend initiating such a collaboration? Should the SLP and the therapist discuss people who stutter as a whole, or should the approach be more individualized? And at what point should the SLP refer the client to therapy in addition to speech?
