When reading this story, I found myself lost in your words. Your story is real and left me with images of your experiences burned in my memory. I am a graduate student studying speech and language pathology, currently in my first semester of courses. In my fluency class, we are learning the importance of talking with our clients about the various emotions that surround stuttering and I felt yours in this story. You opened my eyes to the actual behaviors that go on outside of the therapy room to a child who stutters and also realize that I am only seeing a very small part of them. With your story, I am only more sensitive to those who struggle with their speech and are searching for a way out. I commend your will and empowerment gained from the police officer as well as your outstanding achievements throughout your lifetime. On a final note, I respect your feelings about your past bully. Realizing that his torture made you who you are today is mature and valuable. When something horrible happens, the only way out is to find a positive. I hope that your speeches have made other kids aspire to be like you as I aspire to emulate your strength and positivity.
