Michelle; I am glad you enjoyed the article. Of course, this is a question we have gotten many times, as it brings into focus the tightrope we walk between "being honest" and "potentially making trouble where none exists." This is a fear for many of us. There are no hard and fast rules for this balance; nor easy answers. We can look at it this way: stay within the truth and you can't go wrong. Stuttering can be addressed without any negative connotations when we present information in thoughtful, fun, creative, and "matter-of -fact" ways. Bottom line is that we work within the framework that it is "OK to Stutter!" and this shines through in our language, our attitudes, and our approaches. When students see this, they understand you are providing an atmosphere of acceptance and support. That is a great place to be!
