I am also a second-year graduate student and I agree with you in that there is an importance for therapists to consistently address the emotional and psychological issues that often accompany school-aged children. The question in which you proposed is one of mine as well. I would also like to know how to approach the parents who feel that the speech fluency strategies are still the most important part of therapy? Possibly by explaining the other emotional and psychological characteristics of stuttering to them as well in order to broaden their knowledge of stuttering? Great question!
