Derek; Well, I have good news and bad news... The bad news is that I cannot comment on the specific case you wrote about (professionally and ethically we don't do that). The good news is that I can comment in a more "global" manner. My first inclination as a clinician is not to address the specific speech "symptoms" I may be observing in a student I am working with. I tens to ask myself "why" things are happening. Could a student with frequent interjections be using them as "starters" or "avoidances" of moments of stuttering? Are they there to delay/postpone a word that the child fears or feels tension "coming on?" So, I am sorry to answer your inquiry with questions rather than answers, but I hope this brings you the insight of an "older" clinician who has learned that what we SEE on the surface, is not always the "truth" of what is happening! Thanks for participating and good luck in the future.
