I enjoyed this article and found it very interesting. I love how the article elaborated on the fact that stuttering therapy goes way beyond fluency. I am first year graduate student at The University of Toledo and I am blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Gabel during one of his intensive stuttering clinics. During the intensive clinic, we educated our client on stuttering, worked on desensitization and avoidance reduction, acceptance of stuttering, and modifying core stuttering behaviors. It was a very rewarding experience. I found it saddening to read in this article that some speech language pathologist will find reasons for a child who stutters to not be eligible for treatment. Is this an issue that is on the rise in the field of speech language pathology?
