Hi Florence - Thanks for your post. I'm not sure if I'm following the question exactly...there are many innovative programs that individual clinicians have developed. If I can promote the work of my colleague and coauthor, Nina Reeves - she has done a tremendous amount to improve the treatment of children who stutter in her school districts, with advanced training, interest groups, consultation for families and clinicians, and much more. In our book, we talk about how to adapt a variety of approaches into the realities of the school setting... Because each child is different, we feel that 'packaged' programs are not likely to be effective across the range of different types of individuals you'll meet, but if you can apply the principle from the package to real children, then you can end up with a flexible framework from which to develop your treatment. This is what we've tried to present in our work, and feedback from families, other clinicians, and the children we know has led us to believe that this is a reasonable way to approach the problem. I hope this answers the question - if not, just post a follow up and I'll do my best to add more. Thanks again, S
