Hi Ashley - thanks for your post. Oh yes, lots of ideas on both of these...First off, regarding working in the classroom... I think the first question you want to ask yourself is this: what are the goals you're seeking to achieve in the classroom. Some goals are easier to address (e.g., social skills, attitudinal work, some work on technique) while others may be more difficult to address in the classroom. So, think about which setting is best for which goals. Second, in terms of educating others - many ideas on this one. We've written about some of them, like the classroom presentation, in the thread about bullying (paper written with Bill Murphy and Bob Quesal). Other ideas include helping the child learn to talk openly about stuttering with other people, including parents, teachers, and peers... the more the child can develop comfort in educating others, the more those other people get the needed knowledge - AND the more the child himself learns to be an advocate. There's much more to say, of course, but the more you can get the word out, the better! Thanks again for your post. S
