Hi Rebecca, that's a good question about thinking about the listener. I'm not really sure. Maybe the way to answer it is to turn it around: Why do non-clutterers have an easy time of thinking about the listener when they speak? I think that a lot of people don't think too much about the listener when they're speaking, but just clutterers get penalized for it because their speech breaks down, and they interrupt the speaker at awkward moments. So, I think it might be a helpful therapy, rather than a deficiency on the clutterers part. But, maybe it's both, that would be an interesting research project.
