I listen a lot more than I talk, that could be one reason. I think the biggest reason was that the general population isn't familiar with how cluttering sounds. After I found out about cluttering, I asked a lot of my childhood friends about my speech. A lot of them said something like, "Well, there was always something different about your speech. It wasn't stuttering, and I'm not really sure how to describe it." Since there wasn't a word at the time to describe cluttered speech, it was really hard for my friends to really put their finger on what it was that was different about my speech.
