Hi Lisa – thanks for your post. I agree that the issue of fluency in High Functioning Autism and Asperger’s Syndome is indeed a most interesting one.(It also brings to mind the speculation amongst some earlier commentators on possible co-occurrence of non-verbal communication between those with ASD and those who clutter.) With regard to the case that Kathy Scaler Scott and I presented, I cannot recall offhand whether Kathy collected data on the ratio of normal/stuttering like disfluencies, but my recollection is that Paul did produce a greater number of non stuttering like disfluencies than stuttering-like versions. Perhaps Kathy can (dis)confirm(?) By ‘your book’ you are referring to the upcoming volume that Kathy and I are editing, right? Yes, there is a chapter on this subject, which Kathy herself has written.
