I found this article about the relation of cluttering to auditory processing disorders very interesting. I am currently an undergraduate speech pathology and audiology student at West Virginia University, and while my knowledge of cluttering is limited, it is something I have been hoping to learn more about. I realize that since there are so many variations and different groups among people who clutter, it can be hard to examine what factors may be contributing to the cluttering such as auditory processing disorders (APDs). However, I agree with you that since all three studies found a link between cluttering and APD, the relationship between the two should be further studied. In your closing remarks, you say that, “Three published studies have examined the potential implication of central auditory processing deficiencies in clutterers across different groups and ages.” My question then is “are these the only three studies that have been done? And if so, why hasn’t this been further investigated since all three studies show a possible connection between people who clutter and APD?
