Hi, Lindsey - As was reported by David's mother, previous therapy targetted bilabial sounds and used the Lidcombe approach to address "stuttering." When I assessed David, I judged his disfluency to be secondary to the fast rate and the unintelligibility - I wasn't sure that he stuttered. By this age, I also thought he could be involved more directly in his treatment and that he needed to be motivated to want to change. David told me he liked the way he talked and that it made him different from everyone else. I saw this attitude as the biggest challenge in getting David to change so my approach was based on how to get David interested in and motivated for therapy. The video worked very well for him. Thank you for your comments and question, Lindsey. Regards, Carla.
