I am one of Dr. Reichel’s clients who filled in her questionnaire. Responding to your question, we are on a journey for achieving successful communication. The road is not always level. There are always ups and downs. Unfortunately, those of us who stutter may often have emotional downturns. It may be hard for people who do not stutter to understand. Our confidence may sometimes be affected when we unexpectedly lose control over our speech after a period of improvement. We have to be prepared for these inevitable relapses, and deal with it in a very constructive and rational manner. Sometimes it takes time for us to bounce back. Once we get better again, we get stronger, more optimistic, and not fearful of relapses. This is what we call success.
