Very intriguing study. Did your subjects experience feelings of frustration, anxiety and pressure that may have potentially interfered with the verbal maze that PWC experience and which may be taxing on mental resources involved in forming an utterance? If so, how did you ensure they didn't experiencing these feelings as they completed the task? You also suggested the possibility of an internal clock gone awry. It would be interesting to run a MEG study to identify which regions of the brain comprise this internal clock. If you have you come across studies, it would be fascinating to learn more.
