Is it possible that the group who clutter over estimated the time because, from what I understand, people who clutter are taught that speaking should be slower than how they produce speech? As a person who has typical speech, I have never given any though as to how long it takes me to produce a phrase. I am a Communication Disorders and Sciences student, and have never worked with a person who clutters, but it seems that a largely used therapy technique that is taught is “slow speech.” People who stutter or clutter are taught to pay attention to their speech and how fast or slow they are speaking. Could this have any effect on results?
