Dear Heather, Good question. I expect Emily will weigh in here as well. She ran the study and knows more than I do what subjects said, how they responded, and so on. Nevertheless, your quote from Emily describes what we INTENDED would happen. The design of the study cannot actually verify that the subjects said what they thought they would say. Still the careful instructions, training, and deletion of items wherein participants indicated that they did not say what they thought leads us to believe that they really were able to "think about talking" and then report whether or not they said what they thought. I'm not aware of any way one could do what you suggest--actually measure the accuracy of a person's thinking relative to what was spoken. If you can think of such a strategy, we'd be very interested. Thanks again. Ken
